In Summer 2017, we welcomed a new camp to the Variety’s Peaceable Kingdom family! Eva’s Heroes is a camp for young adults with intellectual special needs. Gabi was one of our first campers to join us at VPKRC with Eva’s Heroes. Gabi was very nervous when his group’s time to participate in the high swing arrived. This activity involves getting harnessed up and attached to a wire, then being pulled up into the air and swinging like a pendulum. When the time came, Gabi accepted the challenge, put on his harness and helmet, and climbed to the top of the ladder. Gabi is non-verbal so he used his body language and the biggest smile you’ve ever seen to communicate his excitement at pushing himself to meet this challenge.
